Cycle Tours

Lanzarote has a varied landscape for bikers and hikers to enjoy the volcanic islands of Lanzarote. Lanzarote is an island for all those who love sports and adventure.Lanzarote each year gets hundreds of cyclists, runners and athletes coming over to train. The reasons are obvious.  The beautiful landscape, breath taking valleys and cliffs, crystal clear water. Lava and volcanic fields. City as well as old town life. Vineyards and beaches. It has everything and helped with the all year round moderate climatic conditions.

There are a number of routes and options available both for trekking and biking. You could cruise on bikes along the beach to Arrecife or Puerto Del Carmen. Alternatively you could take the bike up the roads into the north of Lanzarote or through the Timanfaya National Park. You could take the trip going up the mountain tops or winding up and down in the volcanic paths in the islands.

There are a number of Bike and Trekking groups / companies who organize tours for 2 to many people. You also have the possibility of renting bikes for the full family with complete protective gear.

In every part of the island you will find a number of companies offering these services. Best quality road bikes and mountain bikes from international brands like TREK, Specialized, Whyte, Cinelli, Cervelo, GIANT and SCOTT kids’ bikes in different sizes and child seats are easily available for hire. For a charge you could also hire the services of a professional guide.

Cycling in Lanzarote is a memorable experience. The Scenery is breath taking and in the city and towns the roads are good and traffic sparse. Please take note that Helmets are mandatory for bikes under Spanish law. Local drivers are so used to seeing large groups of cyclists and treat them with great deal of respect, until it is absolutely safe to do so.

Each year the Lanzarote Ironman competition takes place on the island. It is one of the toughest European Triathlon events – where in addition to swimming 3.8 kilometers and running an entire marathon of 42 kilometers competitors also have to cycle 180 kilometers – all events taking place within the space of 17 hours. Participants in this event begin training at least six months in advance.
