Playa Grande, Puerto del Carmen

 

Also called Playa Blanca (Not to be confused with the famous Playa Blanca at Yaiza) this is the largest and best beach in Puerto del Carmen, Tias. It is amongst the most popular too. The beach is about 1.2 Kames long and about 20 meters wide. The sun especially during the summer months can be quite strong, please ensure to carry sun screen protection for your skin.

The beach offers all facilities for a comfortable day out. You can rent a sun bed with an umbrella for a nominal price for the day. The beach has ample wash rooms and changing areas. Life guards are also on standby for your protection. Several water recreation facilities are available for renting such as water sports equipments. There are ample parking areas, Blue paid parking zones, and garages are all available. If you would like to save some Euros then please look at parking at in the by lanes a little away from the beach for free.

The evenings at the beach are quite pleasant. Wide pedestrian streets and special designated areas for bicycles and skaters are available. Great for walking, window shopping or a lazy stroll.

The area has a variety of International cuisine, cafeterias, fast food joints, discos, and night clubs etc to choose from.

 

Los Pocillos

 

It is the second largest beach in Puerto del Carmen, Tias. The beach has calm waters but is more windy. It offers almost identical services as its bigger more popular sister Playa Grande. The beach has fine golden sand. The beach is slightly inclined and hence at times of high tide when the water recedes it leaves pools of water on the beach at various spots.

Due to windy conditions it is good for wind surfers who frequent this beach. The beach is lined up with hotels, apartment complexes, restaurants, shopping and boutiques.

The beach has good public transport connections such as bus and taxi´s.

 

Matagorda

 

The beach located at Matagorda from which it derives its name. It is part of the 4 larger and most famous beaches in Puerto del Carmen. It is 850 meters long with an average width of approximately 40 meters.,

The windy beach of fine golden sand with calm waters, offers amongst the best conditions specially beginners for windsurfing.

The beach has good public transport connections such as bus and taxi´s.

The beach is lined up with hotels, apartment complexes, restaurants, shopping and boutiques.

Lima Beach

 

Lima beach is about 900 meters in length and about 50 meters wide. It is about 3 kms away from Puerto Del Carmen. The beach has a mix of fine golden sand with small local lava stones (locally called picon). This beach is windy with calm waters ideal for beginners and first time wind surfers.

It is located besides the Matagorda development & can be reached by local bus.

 

Peña Grande

 

It is a small cove with only 40 meters in length and 5 meters in width. Set in semi urban setting. The beach has white sand with black pebbles. The conditions are windy and the sea water is calm. The beach has full services of a life guard, wash room areas, parking, and telephones. Of Peña Grande has fine white sand and pebbles.

In the vicinity you can find restaurants, accommodations, hotels, apartments.

 

Pila de la Barrilla

It is another small beach – 90m long and 22m wide.

The golden sand is washed with calm waters of the sea.

The beach has full services of a life guard, wash room areas, parking, and telephones. In the vicinity you can find restaurants, accommodations, hotels, apartments.

The beach has good public transport connections such as bus and taxi´s.

 

Playa de la Fariones

 

It derives its name from the Hotel with the same name in its vicinity. It is another small beach only 60 meters in length and about 5 meters in width with fine golden sand and black stones. It is in semi urban setting. It offers a lot of water sports activities.
